| "Making a difference - one family at a time!"
McArthur Park and Gateway Gallery were founded by Louis R. McArthur, Jr. with the sole purpose to enrich the lives of minor children who will experience a life-changing impact with the loss of a parent to illness.
Committee members arrange for an Adirondack Experience at McArthur Park for families with a parent that has a life-threatening medical condition. The sole purpose is to enrich the lives of families by creating memories with simply joyful time away from doctors' appointments, treatments and hospitals. Families get to revel in the best that the Adirondacks has to offer with a truly rustic outdoor camping experience.
Since its humble beginning in 1988, when the 50-acre site was originally purchased, Louis R. McArthur, Jr. has been actively involved with charity organizations, and has invited families and wish grantors to events like the annual charity picnic at McArthur Park.
Through Mr. McArthur's involvement in charity organizations he has experienced the joy in the eyes of children and seen the remarkable memories built from a simple event like catching a fish. Thus the idea and concept of McArthur Park was born.
Now the McArthur Park Organization invites families to spend a "Gone Fishing" weekend at the beautiful 50-acre park located in the heart of the Adirondack Mountains and build a few lifetime memories.
